Patient Satisfaction - PRC & HCAHPS Scores

Quality goes beyond measuring clinical care. It is important to know how our patients feel about their care. By participating in a program that compares our patient feedback to national data, we can improve our overall quality of care. Rex's patient satisfaction scores rank among the highest in the nation.

Excellent quality and service are top priorities at Rex Healthcare. As part of continuous quality improvement efforts Rex Healthcare commissions Professional Research Consultants (PRC) to measure patient satisfaction. PRC offers one of the highest patient satisfaction survey benchmarks. PRC’s methodology strives for excellence in the survey measurement scale of Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair or Poor. Rex Healthcare's utilization of PRC and its high benchmarks is driven by Rex’s mission to provide excellent care for patients and their families.  Rex strives to ensure patients and their loved ones experience this high quality care whenever Rex has the opportunity to care for them.

In late 2006, CMS initiated the HCAHPS (Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Provider Systems) survey program.  The HCAHPS goal is to provide the public a means to compare inpatient satisfaction survey scores among hospitals.  The HCAHPS survey allows the public to compare more than 3,500 hospitals nationwide.  CMS allows hospitals to conduct other patient satisfaction surveys in conjunction with HCAHPS.  Rex Healthcare raises the bar on patient satisfaction and quality standards by simultaneously conducting the PRC survey and the HCAHPS survey.

Higher percentages are better (some of the recommended care given to patients only if appropriate.)

Note: PRC and HCAHPS scores appear different due to the difference in methodology. PRC surveys 7,000 patients a year, while HCAHPS surveys 330 patients. In addition, the two surveys use different scales.
