ASK ABOUT APHERESIS

Rex Sleep Disorders Center

Is it hard for you to get out of bed in the morning?

Do you hit the snooze button over and over again?

Are you feeling irritable or stressed?

Are you often tired during the day?

If so, you might have a sleep disorder.

Sleep Disorders from A to Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

Rex Sleep Disorders Center specializes in diagnosis and treatment of periodic limb movement, narcolepsy, and sleep apnea, a serious and potentially dangerous condition characterized by brief interruptions of breathing during sleep. Symptoms of sleep apnea include:

  • Depression
  • Irritability
  • Loud snoring and gasping
  • Learning and memory dysfunction
  • Falling asleep at inopportune times

In order to fully understand sleep patterns and diagnose any problems, various brain activities, body systems and their relationships must be monitored throughout the night. Through an overnight sleep study at Rex Sleep Disorders Center, a recording of physiological measurements will identify your different sleep stages and classify various sleep problems.

A place of rest

All overnight sleep studies are conducted under the direction of a Medical Director who is board-certified in sleep medicine, and trained sleep technologists. Rex now has three convenient locations for sleep testing: Raleigh, Cary and Wakefield. All three locations have full size beds as well as cable television for your comfort. Each of the rooms are similar to a hotel room, offering a tranquil night's sleep to all patients.

Our locations:

  • Rex Sleep Disorders Center in Raleigh is a full-service, accredited sleep center. Located at 4210 Lake Boone Trail, behind Rex Wellness Center and in the same facility as Rex Rehabilitation and Nursing Care Center.
  • Rex Sleep Disorders Center in Cary is located at 1515 SW Cary Parkway at the Rex Healthcare campus in Cary.
  • Rex Sleep Disorders Center of Wakefield is conveniently located at the Holiday Inn Express, 11400 Common Oaks Boulevard, Wakefield.

There is no need to suffer through another sleepless night!

Patients wanting to use the services provided by the Sleep Disorders Center need a referral from their primary care physician or a physician that specializes in the treatment of sleep disorders. The cost is often covered by insurance. If you think that you may have a sleep disorder, contact your doctor to schedule an appointment with Rex Sleep Disorders Center by calling (919) 784-3419. If you have any questions about your sleep problems or a scheduled test, call the sleep center directly at (919) 784-1465.

  • Sleep disorders affect approximately 20% of the population.
  • Half of the United States population complains of insomnia.
  • Stress, hectic schedules, health problems and poor sleep hygiene also affect sleep.
  • There are over 84 known sleep disorders, such as sleep apnea, that can lead to major health problems.

A.W.A.K.E

Rex Sleep Disorders Center sponsors a health awareness group for people with sleep apnea and their family and friends. This group is part of the American Sleep Apnea Association A.W.A.K.E. Network (Alert, Well and Keeping Energetic). This group provides support through sharing ideas and information among persons who are affected by sleep disordered breathing.  Together we can help each other with similar interests, problems and solutions.  Please join us for our meeting and refreshments!
